Somewhat Urban

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

So I did film a commercial last night. You can view it under the Usted section of this website or watch this:

Somewhat Urban from abteen on Vimeo

It didn’t turn out the way I envisioned but it’s okay for something filmed late on a Tuesday night when your friends are begging to go to Taco Bell. I might re-shoot or do a new video with the same concept.

Usted Commercial

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I think I’ll be filming an Usted commercial tonight. So far, the first few days of summer have had a tendency to make me really tired, so we’ll see if I’m up to it once the sun sets. If it’s not tonight, then it will be soon. Keep an eye and out and buy an Usted shirt.

Here’s a cool picture I took of Ryan with a Holga on Saturday night.

Music Video

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

I was in a music video on Sunday. It was a tough day (8 am - 9 pm in Venice/Downtown LA/Santa Monica). The video was for a band called I Hate Kate and directed by Keith Schofield. I also met the director behind www.winchandpulley.com(Josh Forbes) so check it out.

Here are some pictures I took.

LAST KYOTV

Friday, June 8th, 2007

The last KYOTV ever is now online. We had a lot of fun making it, from the animations I made in my bedroom after midnight on school nights, to filming all the events. Thanks to the teachers who didn’t complain about it being long. We had a lot of fun making a tv show this year and I’m glad at least someone enjoyed it.

Hey look!

It’s a picture of me taken with a Holga!

Mustache!

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Today we filmed and edited our newest film, Mustache. The concept evolved when Nolan, Robert, and I sat down together to discuss possible ideas. When I got home, I ordered 28 fake mustaches from a novelty internet store. This film uses all 28 of them, including two real mustaches grown by Brett Sterling and myself.

The whole film takes place in one location and there are only two cuts during all 6:35. It surprisingly didn’t take that many takes. The filming was like a small little party comprised of 30 people. Only, in this party, people ran around and told the party goers what to do.

We teamed up with Funky Breifcase (sic), Dutchboy, and HarryBaldMen productions to make this film. It was filmed and edited entirely in one night.

Here’s the reason there had to be two cuts:

If I had it my way, it would have all been one shot.

So go watch it under the short films section, and don’t forget to tell us what you think.

If you can, rate and comment it on youtube!

Film Festival

Friday, June 1st, 2007

The film festival was great. CHS has a lot of talented filmmakers this year. After I won best director, I was interviewed for an Italian website for new up and coming directors. I don’t remember the name of the website because it was kind of loud when the lady who took my picture told me. Hopefully, I’ll see it someday.

Also, I’ve been posting some little animations that are going into the last KYOTV on www.abteen.org.
